And I was considering a Toyota for my next vehicle purchase in December 2010. Having second thoughts now because it would’ve meant getting an automatic transmision. I like driving manual, and this just re-enforces that.

Initial thoughts on the iPad
I’m not a professional blogger, so I’ll keep this brief. I like the iPad (not the name though), but not enough to buy one. Here’s why: Where’s my multi-tasking? I hope someone builds a Twitter client / Facebook client / web browser all-in-one app. I want to see all of those things at the same time! I want to be able to tile their windows with my email window as well. I want...

Is Facebook "Lock-In" a Sure Thing? →
Facebook reminds me of Apple. They’re both companies who manage to make me both love and hate them. I wish someone would build a better Facebook, with a minimalist layout.

MBP Graphics Card Issues
Well, the NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphics processor is going on our MacBook Pro. A little Google searching revealed that Apple will replace the graphics card for free, for upto three years. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2377 Good, this shouldn’t jeapordize our Apple Tablet purchase. ; )

Online Privacy
In Bruce Schneier’s latest opinion piece for CNN.com, “U.S. enables Chinese hacking of Google”, he says the American government allowed the Chinese attack on Google. It is a must read: http://www.cnn.com/2010/OPINION/01/23/schneier.google.hacking/ “*This problem isn’t going away. Every year brings more Internet censorship and control, not just in countries like China...

Hopefully your FB vanity URL isn’t the name of a company. Geez, FB doesn’t care about privacy or honesty. I’m starting to wish there were more competition in this space (and no, MySpace doesn’t count).

NPR: High Court Rolls Back Campaign Spending...
America, the screwed. If businesses want to donate money to political campaigns, why not have them all donate to one fund that gets split evenly among candidates? Without spending limits, our next President will be the person who was willing to sell the most favors. While they’re at it, maybe the Supreme Court should remove any restrictions on lobbyists.>

As you may have noticed, I’ve been trying Posterous for the past couple of weeks, using it to post to my Tumblog, Twitter, and Facebook.  And, while I like that Posterous includes all of the text from my posts on my Tumblog, it provides only the title and a link to my Posterous page on my Facebook and Twitter accounts.  I finally decided to test Tumblr’s ability to post to Facebook and...

It’s about time.  If it’s deemed safe for the DoD, then why not the rest of the government?  As more governments use open source solutions, maybe we’ll see better vendor support (drivers, etc.), making open source more viable for consumer use.  Just a thought.

Apple’s Share of Mobile App Sales -...
I read the Gartner piece on Apple’s share of mobile app sales, then Gruber’s brief analysis of it, which made sense.  Regardless of the real numbers, Apple has an enormous chunk of the mobile app market.  It amazes me that despite their huge head start, none of the mobile providers or mobile manufacturers were able to do anything close to what Apple did.  Actually, that doesn’t...
